ESP Legal President Chris Hildreth was recently invited to serve a two-year term on the Partner Advisory Council (PAC) for the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), the largest association for legal technologists in the world. He is honored by and excited for the opportunity to help smaller legal members get more involved with ILTA as a representative for the basic membership category.
The ILTA Partner Advisory Council (PAC) was created in October 2017 to represent the entire ILTA business partner community and to work with ILTA leadership to build strategic solutions that foster growth and innovation around issues affecting the community. The PAC has a mission of connecting business partners, members, and ILTA staff, and the current council includes representation from the U.S., Canada, EMEA, Australia, and from all levels of sponsorship. The council meets monthly.
According to a representative, one of the PAC's most impactful efforts was developing and conducting an independent survey of business partners. The results of this survey, combined with the results of ILTA's regular event-based surveys, helped drive key accomplishments, including: keeping ILTACON 2019 costs at the same level as the 2018 conference; facilitating thought leadership and support/ideas for ILTA's programming, including more and earlier input on conference sessions; and providing input on Education and StartUp Hub consultant passes for ILTACON.
Other important outcomes for the past year have included: creating an ILTA e-group to foster business partner and ILTA staff communication; opening the door so that business partners can join previously member-only groups (e.g. Women Who Lead) and participate in volunteer task force efforts; and expanding PAC representation for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
